If it weren’t for my pesky brother, I wouldn’t waste my time being lost in an unfamiliar unhygienic city.
Faces I don’t know, the stench of carbon monoxides from cars which needs matches, and pirated CDs around the corner where there’s a ‘No Vendor’ signboard. A very violent environment, unfriendly jeepney drivers who don’t give student discount, and the worst cops who collect ‘kotong’ (bribe) from road-violating vehicles in return of immunity of road rules. Unless you’re a government official, you’re not exempted.
It all started when my pesky brother made my mom find help to work on his project ( I didn’t pass when I was high school then, since I’m excused from that subject) and he forgot to follow it up. And now he’s pressuring all of us to make a move to get that silly replica of a tower. I really hated that subject since elementary. Until now, I can feel the pain of receiving the lowest grade in the card that made your downfall in your academic career. Back again, I went to my mom’s office and fetch it.
I’m new to the place, but I still traversed well. The problem: It’s a race against short time. I have to get to school in about 10.30. It’s 9.45 and I’m still walking and wet. And, my God, it’s not easy; with all those turns and walks and slopes, it’s not easy especially if you’re new to a place. I’ve been in Manila particularly in Quezon City, where there lies my dream school University of the Philippines, and I’ve never been lost like this one. Not that I came to the point that I was totally dumbfounded on how big this impure city is; but I got lost in a polluted city, dripping wet and walking (my feet hurts) downtown. I hate it, especially when I’m walking while raining, deprived of an umbrella. I’ve been dripping wet before I got to school. Only to know that he got a whopping (talk about irony!) 78 percent for it. Wow! Great job! It sucks…
Oh well, the fact I came home un-amputated, that’s fine. It’s sometimes great being lost; you got to travel more and discover more about the place where you’re desperately lost. Even though you’re throbbing chest would kill you knowing the fact some robber can snatch your bag or a kidnapper snatch you, you can’t stop walking ‘cause you know you got a time to spare. It’s unsafe there, you know.
It still sucks and my feet still hurts…
